RE: New ETS2 Dashboard for SimHub UPDATED for ATS | 3 Relevance | 8 months ago | NigeUK | Dashboard Templates
@eder-merino Excellent! Great news. Well done you for spotting the issue. Nothing stupid at all. I did half-think as I was testing today that the transmission setting could be causing the issue, so I added that setting in the edit for my post. Not your fault at all, it’s not mentioned in the manual and I hadn’t previously thought that it could be an issue. So, I will add it to the manual and think of a way to modify the dash to maybe take account of the setting. tldr: To use the Start button on the dashboard as designed: In Truck Settings (Settings > Gameplay > Truck Settings) Transmission = Real Automatic If you use an H shifter, then you may not need to do this!

@nigeuk Thank you so much for your answer. I have just read your possible solutions and head straight to the game to try them. I have solved my issue. It might sound stupid, but I was using arcade automatic transmission (or however it is called) instead of real automatic. I guess that when I holded the brake pedal it would just engage reverse instead of holding the brake, so the dashboard doesn't detect the brake input anymore. Regarding my mistake about the dashboard brake light behaviour, I apologise, but as it hadn't worked for me yet, I thought it would disappear instead of illuminating solid. In case the issue regarding the transmission setting is stated on the config PDF file, I beg your pardon, as I haven't seen it anywhere. Anyways, problem solved! Thank you so much for your help and your patience.

@nigeuk What I've noticed is that the footbrake input is only detected once the truck is with the engine running. When there is only ignition on, the brake symbol on the dash is blinking and doesn't detect the input, but once it's on, everything works just fine. I don't know if it will help you in some way, but I'll leave here just in case.

@eder-merino OK thanks. I’ll look into this in more detail and get back to you. It will be maybe 10 days before I can investigate further. It may be something was broken by a SimHub or ETS2 update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@nigeuk If I press the Start Button once, Ignition is turned on, as it should, but if I press it again, instead of getting the engine started, I get nothing. Yes, I have the button B assigned to the footbrake, and parking brake is mapped to the letter P instead. At first, I had the keys binded as in the manual (B for parking brake) and didn't work, but then I thought that it might refer to the foot brake, so I changed it. As I had no luck with it, I changed the bindings again to match the parking brake, so now in SimHub the reference is for the parking brake. Ignition and Start are I and E, as they were defined in the manual, and matching in the game. As for the game, it's ETS2, with a vanilla truck, Renault T. I also tried different trucks, but non of them worked. Attachment : 1.png

@nigeuk Sorry for the late reply. I have just try it. In both cases, the brake light lights up on the dashboard. I'm sorry I can't be more informative, but I have no clue on what can it be.

@eder-merino Hi there, which key is your foot brake bound to in the game? Also, remember that the truck needs to be in Neutral gear AND the Parking Brake needs to be on, or the engine won’t start even if the foot brake is down.

@nigeuk Hey nigeuk, I really appreciate your work with this dashboard, but I am having some trouble regarding the Engine Start button. I have already read the discussion and tried all the above solutions, but none seemed to work. I've read that while holding the foot brake, the yellow icon on the dash should disappear, but it doesn't. I've tried restarting both the game and SimHub and reconnecting the Steering wheel to the PC, but any of that made any change. Even if I press the foot brake from the key binded on the keyboard, there is no difference. It is a bit frustrating, because it is the only thing that is not working. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

Aha! OK. I paid for the use of the images and modded them to suit my dashboard. Not a huge amount of money, but it’s my own time I used, but it’s still work. Lots of GIMP editing! If you’re going to make regular money from your dashboard, then a credit to me and a percentage would be nice. If not, then a credit to me and a link back to this thread would be enough. Either way, it would be great if you’d send me your dashboard so I can have a look and of course if I implement any of your work in my future updates, then I would credit you. If you want to discuss in more detail in private, I’m on the SimHub Discord server and I think you may be able to message me there.

@nigeuk So basically, I started a pretty over engineered ETS2 Dashboard myself a while ago, originally intended for private use. Now that this developed into something huge I started to consider putting it out for others to enjoy, but I ran into one issue: I originally used your button textures and some of your icons from this specific dashboard, thinking I don't need to design my own if only I use it anyway, not knowing I might ever publish it or consider doing so. Now that I've read you made them yourself I assume you wouldn't be too happy if I just blast them out there under my name, even with attribution on my documentation, so I was wondering if there was some way to either buy some sort of license / buy the needed elements from you or if you'd prefer me to take them out completely (which would be no issue at all, I just wanna make sure before you hate me) Cheers, Ti
