Help with Arduino

I am trying to set up an arduino to use in a steering wheel. After setting up buttons and encoders I can compile and upload to the arduino. When i go back into the simhub arduino tab it will show the arduino with the name I gave it and display as connected however it will not show up in the controllers tab or in windows game controllers. I have tried a nano and an R3 and both give the same result. Am I missing something?
