Hi,

Apologies if this has been answered before, I couldn't find an answer in my searching...

I am playing around trying to setup a G-seat using air wedges as a fun & cheap little project. I'm already using one for belt tension which was simple enough so I've no trouble connecting the servo with arduino, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I would be able to use a single 180 degree Servo for say Surge or Sway. The idea being that assuming no acceleration the Servo would sit in the middle of it's range and would then rotate +90 or -90 based on acceleration (which would be compressing an air wedge).

Thanks!

OK so I feel a little dumb for posting since it was actually really easy and only took me about 15 minutes once I realized I can tweak SimHub on second monitor whilst in sim.

I worked out Surge anyway, so I'm sure Sway will be a piece of cake too.

For future reference if anyone else wonders:

  • I added Acceleration Effect and set it to Export to Property ("GasGasGas")
  • I added Deceleration Effect and set it to Export to Property ("BrakesBrakesBrakes")
  • I added a Custom Effect and set 'FrontLeft' to:
50 + (([ShakeITMotorsV3Plugin.Export.GasGasGas.Rear]/2) - ([ShakeITMotorsV3Plugin.Export.BrakesBrakesBrakes.Front]/2))

This returns a value of 50 at rest (which seems to "center my Servo") and then goes up/down according to relative acceleration halved. I halved it here so that when tuning my Accel/Decel curves it's less to think about.

Now I just have to do some plumbing. I can't believe it was so easy.
