Tachometer Issue

Morning All,

 Do these little Arduino boards overheat and quit working until they cool?  My tach works great for about 5 or 6 minutes and then goes to zero rpms.  The backlighting is still working but the needles gets lazy.  I've had it for about a year, do they need to be replaced every so often?
